Jeffery Hysell Obituary

Jeffery Lynn Hysell, age 62, of Middleville, MI passed away March 5, 2023 after a valiant fight with cancer in the home he proudly built and in the presence of his beloved wife and children.

Jeff was born April 13, 1960 in Fremont, MI to Bonnie Marie Hysell and Larry Gene Hysell.  Jeff is preceded in death by both of his parents and by his mother-in-law Carolyn Townsend and father-in-law Jay Townsend. Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Deanna “Dee” Hysell and children: Jeffery (Shannon) Hysell, Brent Hysell, and Cody (Glenna) Hysell. His grandchildren: Hunter, Harlie, Hailey, Hayden, Karson, and Everleigh. Siblings: Wendy (Bob) Jones, Barbara Zehner, Rev. Matthew Hysell, Kathy (Dan) VanderSchuur, Laurie (Jeff) Fifelski, and extended family.

Jeff graduated from Fruitport high school in 1979 and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps. Corporal Jeffery Hysell proudly served his country for 4 years earning the rank of E-4 before he was honorably discharged. Although he no longer served, Jeff maintained his love of the corp and exemplified the saying “once a Marine, always a Marine!” Following his military career, Jeff worked as an automation tech in the Automotive industry for 39+ years. During his career he found time to be an academic example by earning an associates degree in General education through Grand Rapids Community College and continued to earn advanced certifications in robotics, automation, and programming. He made many friends throughout the years between his jobs at Bentler Automotive and Mayville Engineering Company, many who have shown great love and support for Jeff and his family during his battle with cancer.

Jeff was resolute in his devotion to his family, always putting them first. His time with his family was what he cherished most in life. He was a hardworking, selfless man who constantly put others ahead of himself; always ready to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. Jeff loved to share his passion for motorcycles, classic cars, guns, and woodworking. He enjoyed the outdoors and frequently took family and friends camping and boating. Some of his most memorable moments were spending time with his best friend Steve (Robin) Lester. Being well known for his sense of humor he made many people laugh and was always the life of the party. Throughout his exemplary life he has inspired and earned the admiration of the many that got to know him and he will be missed.

Semper Fi Marine!
