Jeffrey Forrester Obituary

Jeffrey “Scott” Forrester, age 65 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2022. He was born Aug. 3rd 1956, the son of Jack and Barbara (Whitley) Forrester. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Steve Forrester. Scott is survived by his wife, Margo (Scott) Forrester; his daughters Jennifer Johnson and Amy Tromp; his grandchildren Tyler Holland, Emily Tromp. Evan Johnson and Ava Johnson; his brothers Timothy Forrester and Daniel Forrester; Sister-in-law, Mary (Rosloniec) Forrester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Scott attended Rockford High School and worked primarily in the Printing and Factory industries. In his earlier life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, (especially fly fishing), camping and riding his motorcycle everywhere. Throughout his life, he relished cooking (even placing in some chili cookoffs), grilling and classic rock music. He attended numerous concerts and could name the title and artist of a song after only hearing 3 notes. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, “Cuz everybody needs a team” and tried to support the Detroit Tigers.

In 2001, Scott joined the Sons of the American Legion Northeastern 459, being eligible thru his father who served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He had served as 1st Vice Commander. He appreciated honoring veterans whether “flagging their graves” pre–Memorial Day or grilling food for them at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Carnival annually. He stood for the National Anthem and made a point to watch military flybys at the beginning of any sporting event.

It was at the Legion, he met his wife Margo, while they were both volunteering. They started singing karaoke and that was it. They combined his love of music and her love of travel. They made a hobby of visiting Legion Posts throughout Michigan, the United States and Canada. He especially liked the ones located in warm climates in the Winter.

Scott Forrester was a nice guy and was easy to friend.

The family would like to thank everyone for their caring and well wishes and Spectrum Hospice & Palliative Care.
