Joan Carol (Kortman) Stratton

Joan C. Stratton age 78 died on March 5, 2021.

Joan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and beloved friend of many. She left this world too soon on March 5, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and complications of COVID-19, at the age of 78.

She was born to John B and Elsie M Kortman on September 4, 1942. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and Grand Rapids Community College with a degree in nursing. She spent many years as a cardiac specialty nurse for Blodgett Hospital and later took pride in passing along her knowledge by teaching. Joan was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the former Highlands Country Club.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years David H. Stratton, parents John B and Elsie M Kortman (nee Spees), brother Gerald Kortman and brother Dennis Kortman. She is survived by her daughter Amy Halley (Robert), son James Stratton (Anne, nee Spencer), grandson Evan Staskey (Paige), great grandson Micah Staskey, sister Carol Sue Groenhout (William), special daughter Linda Daigle of LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

As requested her body will be cremated.  Due to COVID-19 concerns a memorial service & celebration of life will be held this summer with the date and time announced at a later date.
