Joan Ruth Ensley died May 22, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born on May 6, 1930 in Sand Lake, MI. She graduated from Sand Lake High School as valedictorian in 1947. She attended Elkhart Business University and completed the Medical Secretarial Course. On Feb 24,1951she married her high school sweetheart Jerry Ensley in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They lived in
Spokane, WA where Jerry was stationed in the Air Force before returning to Michigan after he was discharged. She was an excellent seamstress and made many dresses and outfits for her daughters and herself. Later she began sewing quilts and gifted baby or graduation quilts to the special people in her life. She also loved gardening and her yard in the summer was full of flowers. After her husband retired they traveled the country in their RV and spent many winters in Florida. She was a long-term member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and
participated in many work projects, including 6 trips as a volunteer to Redbird Mission in Kentucky. She was greatly loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Joan is survived by daughter and son-in-law Rose and Curt Renshaw, son-in-law Jim Gebben, sister Evelyn Coady and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Jerry
Ensley and daughter Maureen Gebben.
A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2022 at 11am with visitation before the service starting at 10 am. The service will be at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4301Ambrose Ave, Grand Rapids, MI
