Joan Elizabeth VanderSloot, 83, passed away on February 5, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was the beloved wife of Andy VanderSloot, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Joan was a devoted and proud mother to their three sons: John (Teresa) VanderSloot, Tom VanderSloot, and David (Jenn) VanderSloot. Joan is also lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren (Daniel VanderSloot, David (Megan) VanderSloot, Ada VanderSloot, and Chelsea VanderSloot) and two great-grandchildren (Oliver and Payson VanderSloot), as well as her sister, Ruth Naylor, and her brother, James Wassenaar, and several nieces and nephews.
Joan will be remembered for her deep love of family, her quiet strength, and her generous heart. She found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved and took pride in caring for others in both big and small ways. Her kindness, steady presence, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
