John Czuhajewski Obituary

On Sunday, June 28, 2020, John Michael Czuhajewski, beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 62. This was not the outcome we had expected after a year-long battle with an unknown illness, but his wife and children surrounded him with love in his last hours.

John was born in Paw Paw, Michigan on August 30, 1957 to John and Mary (Russ) Czuhajewski, the oldest of their 4 children. He graduated from Paw Paw High School. He proudly served in the US Air Force for 6 years, where he began his training in telecommunications. This was the start of his 40-year career in the industry. John and his wife Bonnie were married on October 10, 1992 and raised 3 children together; Noa, Kendra, and Matthew.

John had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. As a child, he hunted and trapped on the farm with his father and he was an avid hunter as an adult. He enjoyed camping with his family, and spending time with the family dog, Oreo. John was a dedicated Scouter for almost 20 years and held several leadership positions over that time. In Scouting, he was an Order of the Arrow member, a Wood Badge Buffalo, and an NRA-certified shooting sports volunteer.

John was a man of few words and a hard worker. He could fix anything and was always ready and willing to volunteer wherever needed. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Stanley Czuhajewski. He is survived by his mother Mary Czuhajewski, his wife Bonnie (Osmer) Czuhajewski, his children Noa Kim (Paige), Kendra Czuhajewski (Erich), and Matthew Czuhajewski, and siblings Dolores Bingham, Bob (Kay) Czuhajewski, and Don (Jo) Czuhajewski as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.

There will be a memorial service for immediate family on Saturday, July 11 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1100 Lake Dr SE, Grand Rapids, 49506. A celebration of John’s life will be planned for a later date, to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church designated toward one of three areas: Scouts BSA Troop 215, Cub Scout Pack 15, or the Trinity building fund.
