John "Scott" Hauck

John Scott Hauck, born May 16, 1957, died in November18, 2025 at his home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after battling vascular disease for many years and following a six-month stay at his cottage in Greenbush, Michigan.

 He is survived by his wife, Renee Justice; his sons, John Garrett Hauck and stepson Eli Justice (Alan Kotenko); his daughters, Amber Jonas and Aubrey DeKubber; his sister, Sue Dood (Robert); his brother, Chris Hauck; and the family dog, Buddy.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents, John Hauck and Edith Easterday, and his stepfather, Clarence Easterday. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sally Stevens; his sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Henry Gorkowski; and his stepsisters, Nancy Muller and Judy Dickson.

Scott was a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and graduated from Creston High School. He worked in commercial construction and eventually became a builder. He had a special talent for fixing and creating all things. His work and his hobby were often the same, he took on countless home projects for others and, in recent years, due to illness, focused on projects at his homes in Grand Rapids and Greenbush. He was a regular at the hardware store, a lover of music who always had the radio playing, and he took great joy in live performances. He was a sky watcher who marveled at the weather, cloud formations, planets, and constellations.

Scott especially enjoyed his daily routines: morning coffee, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chatting with neighbors, watering the garden, and feeding the birds so he could sit and watch them with Buddy by his side.

Following cremation, a memorial celebration will be planned in Grand Rapids.
