John Owen Janes passed away at Corewell Health Butterworth February 15 2025, with his wife and best friend Amanda by his side. He is survived by Amanda, his fur babies Odie and TK, his parents Steve and Gloria Janes, his sister Jennifer DeeWaard, grandmother Patricia Janes, his nieces and nephews Hannah, Owen, Robby and Alice and his treasured Aunt Julie. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Janes.
LIke his brother, John enjoyed anything with wheels and motors. When he was younger, one of his favorite things was his wheel horse garden tractor. He could be found working on it and driving it around the neighborhood in Grand Rapids where he grew up or at the cottage. More recently he was known for driving his snowmobile or quad through the same neighborhood. He was proud to get a job painting aerospace and other parts at a local company. He loved grilling with Amanda and playing with his fur babies. He was excited to have a small cabin built at the lake for Amanda and him to stay at on weekends. He will be deeply missed by many.
His family wants to give a special thanks to the nurses, doctors, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, nurse techs and other staff at Corewell Health Butterworth who worked so hard to care for him and treated his family with such kindness and compassion.
We are also grateful to his friends Alex and Jason for helping with John and Amands’s fur babies, and to Dakota, Steve and Jay for going above and beyond in our time of need.
There will be no visitation at this time. If you would like to donate in his memory, please consider Pet Tales Rescue or Our Hope Association.
