Jon Allen Stewart

Jon A. Stewart, age 74, of Stanton, MI passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ken and Ruth Stewart and his sister Pat Tague. Jon is survived by his sons John (Christina) and Jeff Stewart, daughter Alicia Downer, sister Nancy (James) Marble, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and many other family members. He is also survived by many great friends, including Jack and Lija, Tugboat Jack, Larry and Judy, and his fishing buddy Aydehn.

Jon enjoyed the outdoors and spent many days fishing and hunting. He loved Lake Charlevoix and the Charlevoix area where he had many great times with friends and family. He was a big Nascar fan and went to Michigan Speedway, for at least one race a year, for over 25 years! Jon spent much of his free time reading and liked going to auctions to see what he could find.

He retired from Superior Foods where he worked for many years, and cared for it like it was his own. Most importantly, Jon was a friendly and caring person that had many friends and family whom he loved very much. He always had a story or two to share, or a joke to tell, and will be greatly missed.

Jon was also a proud veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, July 22, from 6 to 8pm at Memorial Alternatives. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, July 23, at Memorial Alternatives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alano Club of Kent County.
