Joseph Emile Ronald Charron of Comstock Park, passed away at the age of 87, on Friday, April 3, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife Arlene, his three children, son Ronald Charron Jr. (Deborah), daughter Renee (Tom) Savino and Geoffrey (Melissa) Charron; his seven grandchildren, Jacob (Alexandra) Charron, Jon (Hannah) Charron, Isabela (Will) Goodpaster, Joseph (Caitlin) Stewart, Charity (Michael) Pabon, Alyssa (Matthew) Hernandez, Abryanna (Jake) Urban; plus, eight great grandchildren.
Ron was born in Sanford, Maine on May 3rd, 1938. His parents were Noella and Alfred Charron. He had one older sister, Marcella, and a younger sister, Linda. Many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from high school with honors and went on to two years of college at the University of New Hampshire. He joined the Navy in 1960 and met Arlene through a mutual friend who was stationed in Great Lakes boot camp. After writing her a letter to introduce himself, he came to Grand Rapids to visit her, and she picked him up at the train station. After 6 months, they were married on May 27th, 1961. She joined him in Connecticut where he was stationed after boot camp and after going to other east coast Naval bases, he finished his term in Charleston, South Carolina. All three of their children were born in different states.
They would have celebrated Ron’s 88th birthday and their 65th anniversary this May. Ron and Arlene enjoyed many things in their life together in Grand Rapids after getting out of the Navy. Some favorites were very long walks, long bike rides, picnics in a park, going swimming in their pool, endless game of Scrabble as well as endless times pitching horseshoes under the hot sun in Charleston.
