Josh Johnson’s earthly life ended on June 21, 2021, at the young age of 43, after many struggles with ill health.
Following graduation from East Kentwood High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology at Grand Valley State University and worked in biopharmaceutical research.
Interested in a future career in education, he earned his teaching degree at Western Michigan University, while working at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.
Josh served in the United States Peace Corps for four years, teaching English in Romania and Ukraine. When he returned to the United States, he pioneered an English Language Learning program with Kentwood Public Schools.
He lived a brave and adventurous life, striving to make the world a better place, until his illnesses changed things forever.
Josh will be forever lovingly missed by his parents, Richard and Lois Johnson; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy and Jill Johnson, along with their children Zachary and Wesley; and aunts and cousins.
A celebration of Josh’s life will be held Saturday September 18th at 1pm at First United Methodist Church, 227 E. Fulton Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
