Joyce Irene (Harper) Krushinsky

Joyce passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Meijer Heart Center, Surgical ICU, for their loving and compassionate care. We also want to thank the doctors and staff of Spectrum Pulmonary Medicine for their expert care, and Spectrum Hospice for making Joyce’s passing as peaceful and tranquil as possible.

Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter Kathryn, her parents Ted and Irene Harper, her brother Roger Harper and her first husband Fred Manning. She is survived by her children, Fred and Nancy Manning, Deb and Jon Meyers, Tom and Marit Manning, Steve and Corinne Manning and Ken Manning; her stepson Michael Krushinsky and Mirka Volema of Salt Lake City, and her loving husband Mike. Nine Grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins in the United Kingdom and Australia also survive her.

With six children, Joyce’s primary occupation was as mother and homemaker. She also worked as a hospital ward secretary, and helped in the family business. She volunteered with the Blodgett Hospital Steketee Guild, and at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in various capacities. She enjoyed travel, kayaking, biking, music and theater. She was an avid and highly skilled downhill skier and taught skiing at Canonsburg ski Area. She continued skiing to age seventy-seven, and along the way tried snowboarding after a lesson with her husband Mike.

Although initially terrified of the water, she overcame her fear and went on to swim, snorkel, kayak and teach Deep Water Aerobics at the YMCA.

Joyce was a loving wife and mother, and a loyal friend to many. Her passing leaves a void that we can never fill.

There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Joyce, Saturday, August 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church 145 North Division Avenue, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.  IN keeping with current Covid 19 conditions, masks should be worn and social distancing maintained.
