Jules Raymond Crowell (Ray), aged 85, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of family.
Ray was born on March 1, 1940, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and continued to serve as a dedicated Kent County Sheriff’s Deputy. Ray was the best. He loved his family more than anything. He is the proud big brother to Gary (Donna), Judy, Tom, Larry (Debbie), Scott (Lauretta), and Rick (deceased). Ray was an amazing dad and Papa.
He leaves behind his three children, Brian (Stacy), Sara (Marcus), and Molly (Jim), and ten grandchildren: Austin, Jacob, Brandon, Eli, Evan, Mya, Gabe, Kate, Jenna, and Elijah. He will be terribly missed by his family and many friends. Particularly his crew at McDonalds and Mr. Burger, where he enjoyed his daily meals and coffee.
Visitation is Wednesday August 20, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm, at Memorial Alternatives, 2432 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
Ray will receive full military honors on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Fort Custer National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Reserved for family, please.
