Obituary
Kathleen E. Vanden Bosch of Grand Rapids, Michigan, born September 24, 1947, passed away May 3, 2023 after a short illness. She was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Betty Newman. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Thomas G. Vanden Bosch. She is also survived by her daughters Wendy (Mark) Rode and Debora Verdier; and her step-sons Matthew (Neda) Vanden Bosch, Joseph Vanden Bosch, and Benjamin Vanden Bosch. Also surviving are her siblings, Patricia Waltz, Mary Ellen Jaent, and Thomas Newman. She was blessed by several grandchildren, including MacKenzie Scheidel, Danielle Rode, Harley Rode, Jack and Alexa Vanden Bosch, and Cyrus and Sarah Vanden Bosch.
She and her husband enjoyed living aboard their sailboats for a number of years while cruising the Florida waters and the Bahama Islands. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed sketching and painting. Everyone who knew her will miss her great sense of humor and wonderful storytelling.
In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, there will be a private memorial service and Celebration of Life at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Kathy’s name to:
