Kay Lynn Thomas of Walker, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2026. Kay was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and graduated from Creston High School.
Kay had many careers throughout her life, including working at the Knife and Fork located in the Pantlind Hotel in downtown Grand Raids. She owned a ceramic business and worked at Grand Rapids Public Schools, but her favorite was being a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One memory know by her family was her love of baking – so much so that she would get up every morning and lovingly bake a dozed fresh chocolate chip cookies for her husband Jerry’s lunch.
She loved her kids, and when it came to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, there was not a greater love than that. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren Nick (Andrea), Stevi (Ronnie), Kristinea and Zack. Her great-grandchildren Iyanna, Ronald, Kali, Jackson and Hudson were the light of her life. She loved spending time with all of them; nothing else compared.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Thomas. She is survived by her siblings Donny Evans and Colleen Corner, children – Norman Vaughn Jr., Kevin Vaughn, Steve Vaughn, Karen (Paul) Eyk and Lisa (Matt) Schillim. She had 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
