Larry Aalderink, age 71, passed away unexpectedly in a traffic accident while on one of his cherished motorcycle rides. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Aalderink and mother Pat Fowler. Larry graduated from Grand Rapids Creston in 1967 and was a proud Army Veteran with service in Korea. He worked as a Spartan warehouse maintenance mechanic where he retired after 30 years of dedication. He thoroughly enjoyed being an Ultralight pilot, flying along the Michigan lakeshore and countryside; he was also an avid life long motorcycle rider. After retiring, he liked volunteering as a driver for Versiti (Michigan Blood) and spending the winters in sunny Cape Coral Florida. You could often find Larry in attendance at his grandkids baseball games, theater performances and dance recitals. He took great pleasure in drinking a good cup of coffee and going on bicycle rides around the Downtown and Heritage Hill neighborhoods. Summertime always included spending time on Lake Michigan with family and friends. Larry was able to enjoy these activities due to the healing effects of apitherapy which relieved him of pain, without the necessity of surgery and medications. He traveled with Kristine to many apitherapy conferences around the country sharing his real life testimonials during her educational presentations.
He is survived by his wife, Kristine Jacobson; step daughters, Heidi Doherty, Emily Jacobson (grandchildren Neala & Nolan); daughter, Tammy (Ben) Majewski; Siblings, Kris (Mike) Larabee, Sherry (Doug) Haminger, Kimberley Sichender; aunts & uncles, Herb (Marylou) Aalderink, Robert (Joyce) Aalderink; brothers in law, Greg (Susan) Richmond, David (Pam) Richmond, Tim (Chrissy) Richmond; sister in law Lisa (Harry) Alexander, nieces and nephews.
