Leslie Kinney

Leslie passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents Dewald McCombs and Margaret Lutz, her loving husband of fifty-one years Fred Kinney II, her daughter Gwendolyn Kinney, and granddaughter Diona.

Leslie leaves behind her three children Erica Castaneda, Fred (Amber) Kinney III, and Jeanne (Victor) Kinney. She leaves behind her sixteen grandchildren Aron, Alexander, Xvaier (Amoni), Cameron, LaReina, Emilio, Shyane, Miya, Jaylin, Alijah, Noah, Brantley, Lily, Violet, Brayden, and Brookllynn, and four great grandchildren Mason, Kiera, Xavier Jr., and Avaline. Leslie also leaves behind seven siblings along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.   

Leslie was a simple person with the biggest heart. She loved being outside gardening and maintaining a beautiful yard. She enjoyed campfires, cars, and going to the movies. Most of all she was a mom to all. Leslie loved to cook and bake; she was known for her home-made yeast dinner rolls. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family whether it was a family event or just someone stopping by. Leslie was known as the neighborhood mom always willing to help in any way or feed a hungry neighbor child, while Fred was in the back yard charging the neighborhood kids twenty-five cents to swim in the pool. Leslie loved the holidays, she especially enjoyed Halloween (seeing all the kids dressed up) and gatherings with family and friends for the Christmas season. Leslie was truly loved and will be missed by all.

A visitation will be held Friday September 15, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm at Memorial Alternatives located at 2432 Fuller Ave NE Grand Rapids Michigan 49505.
