Linda Smit Obituary

Linda Mae Smit, age 67, of Hudsonville, MI, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by family at home on July 13, 2025, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, caring daughter, cherished sister, and faithful friend.

Born on May 6, 1958, Linda lived a life marked by compassion, perseverance, and a deep love for people. She dedicated much of her life to the medical field, where her passion for helping others and her natural ability to connect with anyone she met left a lasting impact. Linda also excelled in sales, using her gift of empathy and warm, outgoing spirit to uplift and encourage those around her. She truly never met a stranger.

In her final weeks, Linda drew especially close to the Lord, finding peace and strength in her deepening relationship with Him. Her unwavering love, generous heart, and vibrant personality were a blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Linda is survived by her two children: Kendra (Jon) Zondervan and Ian Bartz; and three treasured grandchildren: Ava, Adalyn, and Aarik Zondervan. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Mary Smit; and her three sisters: Marian (Nick) Chertos, Sandra (Paul) VanderLaan, and Joyce (Larry) Zimmer. She has been reunited in Heaven with her father, Jacob Smit; her brother, Jack Smit; and her infant son, Eric Simmons.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Friday, July 25th at 11:00 AM at Radiant Church Lakeshore, located at 12932 168th Ave, Grand Haven, MI.49417. A light luncheon will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Linda’s honor.
