Lois Ann (Vanderlaan) Jager of Grand Rapids died peacefully at home surrounded by family and ran eagerly into the arms of her Savior. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Jager, her son-in-law Kevin Gibson, her brothers, Howard Vanderlaan and Robert Vanderlaan, and her parents, George and Dena (Tanis) Vanderlaan. She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Chuck Jager and his son Zachary (Stephanie) Jager, Deb (Jack) Berenschot and her children Michael (Jackie) Hansen, Greg (Sarah) Hansen, Katie (Peter) Hoezee, and Crystal Hansen, and Cyndi (Mark Rector) Gibson and her son Nicholas Gibson. She had eleven great-grandchildren and loved countless others who called her mom or grandma.
Lois was proud of her nursing career and enjoyed helping others, especially her family. Never wanting to be a “rocking chair” type of grandma, she enjoyed life to its fullest! Lois loved the outdoors and looked forward to camping trips or longer adventures to Alaska, California, Montana, or Florida. When at home, she stayed busy in her flower gardens, bird-watching, and taking care of “her babies” while the moms enjoyed their Bible Study. Lois had a love for cooking and making candies. One of her favorite ways to spend the holidays was cooking until there wasn’t anything left to cook, and then spending the rest of the day doing crafts with the kids. She was always the first one to build a snowman, slide down the hill, or go ice skating. Lois made a point to make people feel special and loved. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
