Lorraine Louise (Rittenger) Nezwek-Green

Lorraine Louise (Rittenger) Nezwek Green age 73 of Cedar Springs MI passed away on March 21, 2020 with her children at her side. Lorraine was born on February 15, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lloyd and Dorothy (Nowacki) Rittenger. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Cindy, Chuck, and Bill Rittenger.

Lorraine graduated from South High School in 1965. She proudly earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1992, and eventually earned a Master’s degree in social work from Grand Valley State University.

Lorraine was most proud of her employment as a school social worker with Grand Rapids Public Schools. She was loved and appreciated by both the faculty and all of her students. Her career allowed her to touch so many people’s lives for the better.

Lorraine is survived by her four children, Christine(Steve) DeGood, Kurt(Kirsten) Nezwek, Chelsea Yowtz, and Kelley(Lauren) Nezwek; eight grandchildren; Desmond, Hailey, Kennedy, Avery, Brooklynn, Gabby, Ryker, and Shea. Lorraine is also survived by two sisters: Mary Rittenger and Linda Giammona-Eggers, as well as several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Lorraine leaves behind so many close friends. Her children appreciated how many continued to support, call, and visit Lorraine up to her final days.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be planned and announced this summer.
