Luis Estaban Abella

It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of our beloved 'Louie '. Surrounded by his family the last goodbyes were on Monday, May 17, 2021.

Preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Gonzalez and sister, Maria Salas. Born in Dallas, Texas on February 9,1955 to Nellie Gonzalez and Martin Abella but grew up in Grand Rapids. He is survived by his chosen wife of 37 years, Doreen. Children, step children and the grandchildren whom he cherished as he recorded their growth on a kitchen doorway. His siblings Armando Hernandez, Fred Garcia, Richard Garcia and Nellie Gamez. Many nieces and nephews who will remember him affectionately. His kindness will be in the hearts of his Roosevelt Park neighbors whom he cared for in serving their needs. Grateful to God for having you in our lives and happy you now are with Christ in your home.

There will be a private family eulogy, Monday, May 24, 2021 at 10:00 am at Memorial Alternatives, 2432 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Wyoming, Michigan.
