Marilyn Mae (Matthews) Magee

Marilyn Matthews Magee, Grand Rapids, MI – Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Marilyn Matthews Magee, 86, was born October 16, 1932 in Grand Rapids; daughter of W.B. Matthews and Doris Sprague Matthews. Marilyn resided in Comstock Park, Grand Rapids, Westland and Newaygo. In 1951, she married Charles Earl Magee and raised four children: Rebecca Sue Magee Kovaleski, Mark Earl Magee, Laurel Alice Magee Solum and Matthew M. Magee.

Marilyn attended Comstock Park Schools and graduated in 1949. She attended Junior College, Grand Rapids 1949-51, and Eastern Michigan University (Library Science 1972-1975) Marilyn was a member of the Comstock Park: United Church of Christ Congregational Church for 84 years. The church Sewing Circle was one of her passions for knitting, sewing and quilting. Other interests were the Literary Club, the Emerald Street Coffee Ladies (64 years) and various P.T.A. Groups.

Marilyn is survived by her children Rebecca, Mark (Carol Ann) and Laurel (Loren); also grandchildren: Taylor, Michael, Katie, Eric, Brad, Sarah, Alex and Melissa; great grandchildren: Isaac, Isabel, Jonathan, Jacob, Brady, Ally, Lila, Eve; beloved sister, Kate McDermid; brother, Jerry Matthews, as well as her sisters-in-law, Sharon Marculis and Judy Corbin.

She is preceded in death by husband Charles; son, Matthew and brothers, Wally and George.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Haven Historic Cemetery on 168th and Lincoln Street.
