Mark Theisen Obituary

Mark E. Theisen passed from this life on September 13, 2019, at the age of 54 from lung cancer.

Mark was the precious son of Robert (deceased) and Catherine Theisen. He was a loyal brother to Angelle (Mike) Batten and Todd (David, Patrick) Theisen and a fun uncle to Natalie, Jacob and Lucas. He was a loving boyfriend to Donna Clements.

Mark was also one of the 'Fab 5' cousins and always enjoyed spending time with Jamie, who he loved like a second brother, and his wife Heather as well as with Ann Marie, her husband Mike and boys Nicholas and Dominic.

Over the years Mark worked in various different jobs and positions. He also loved buying and fixing up cars to sell. He could always find an amazing deal on a car and most recently helped his niece Natalie find her first car before heading off to college. As a teenager and young adult, Mark could often be found in the driveway with his dad or a friend working on one car or another. He was our family's go-to guy for car questions and will be greatly missed for his knowledge and expertise in this area for sure.

Along with loving old cars, Mark also loved his friends, old rock-n-roll and a great party. He had a witty sense of humor and always kept people around him laughing, especially his niece and nephews. Although when they were young, there were plenty of times Mike and Angelle had to remind the kids not to repeat Uncle Mark's jokes at school!

Mark had lots of fun adventures in his life and since his dad's passing in 2012, he spent much of his time taking great care of his mother. He became her chauffeur, always getting her to her doctor appointments, to the store and rumor has it to the casino once in a while too. In the last few years, he also enjoyed driving his mom to Grand Rapids to meet up with Todd, David and Patrick for lunch or dinner and lots of laughs.

Mark had a big heart, especially for animals. He loved his little dog Scrappy, who while alive, enjoyed the daily dinner of a hot dog or bologna and bread that Mark always prepared for him!

In these past few years Mark found more happiness with his wonderful girlfriend Donna. Although their time together was relatively short, they loved each other so much and had a lot of fun together. In a recent get-away to Frankenmuth, they spent time playing arcade games and laughing like kids. Friends and family often noticed that when they were together or were talking about the other their faces lit up. Our family is so grateful for the way Donna took such beautiful care of Mark in his last few weeks, making sure he was as comfortable as possible and that he felt unconditionally loved.

We will be celebrating Mark's life on Sunday, September 29, 2019 in a funeral mass at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 200 W. St. Paul's St. in Brighton Michigan. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. and the mass will begin at 2:00 p.m and will be followed by a reception in the church hall.
