Obituary

Martha Rosa Ortega (De La Paz-Medina), was born on January 24, 1963 in Tenexpa, Guerrero, Mexico to Agueda Medina Flores and Rumaldo De La Paz Perez. She was called to Heaven at the age of 59 on April 21, 2022. She was the eldest of nine children; followed by Yesenia, Yane, Marcos, Juan, Aurora, Alenyn, Josie, and Angel. She is survived by her four children: Amber, Joseph, Abigail, and Angie. She was a loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Adrian, Kirsten, Anthony, Axel, Giovanni, Alexa, Joseph, and Camila.

Martha enjoyed daily walks at Reeds Lake, taking pictures (with and without glasses), traveling, extravagant fashion, music, and dancing. What she was most known for was her amazing cooking and making sure whoever came to her house never left with an empty stomach.

She was a devoted Catholic and an active member of St. Alphonsus Parish. Her passion was giving back to the Catholic community by assisting at fish fry’s, distributing homemade meals for the homeless, and volunteering at the local food pantry. She was an avid reader of the Bible, participated in prayer groups, and continuously prayed the rosary. She had unwavering faith.

Martha will be dearly missed by her family and friends. We pray she rests in peace and God’s welcomed her into his Kingdom. In celebration of her life, a service will be held at St. Alphonsus Parish on Thursday, May 19, 2022. The visitation will begin at 10:30am with a Catholic Mass at 11am. It will be followed by a luncheon in the Parish Center. Per the family’s request, please wear something red to honor Martha’s favorite color.
