Micheal Brian Smith, age 85 of Walker MI. Born March 26, 1940 in Muskegon MI to Joseph and Margaret Smith passed away on March 14, 2026 with his daughter Michelle and son in law Mike by his side.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret, by his brothers, Tom and David Smith, his beloved wife Jean Smith and his son Steven Smith.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter Michelle Burdsal (Mike Burdsal) and his granddaughter Olivia Thompson (Andrew Thompson). His sister Margaret Ham and his brother Larry Smith.
Michael was raised on a farm in Marne, Michigan where his family worked closely with the Stockyards of Chicago, buying and selling cattle. His early years driving semi-trucks led him to a 32-year career with the Teamsters, where he enjoyed a long retirement.
Michael and Jean lived in Comstock Park where they raised their two children, Michelle and Steven. Those years were filled with lots of family time and making memories with friends. In 2017, they moved to their retirement condo in Walker, MI.
Michael and Jean shared a love for travel taking many memorable trips to Montana, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, Mexico and Florida. Summers were often spent on the water boating making the most of time with family and friends.
The Burdsal and Thompson families invite friends and family to join them for a Celebration of Life luncheon on Saturday April 11, 2026 from 1pm – 3pm at Brick Haus Bar and Restaurant in Sparta MI.
