Nancy Marie Pratt, a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and meticulous grace, passed peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Though her earthly journey has ended, Nancy looked forward with joyful anticipation to walking the streets of gold with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her suffering has ceased, and she now rests in the presence of God with a new body, free of pain and full of glory.
As it is written in the bible: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
Nancy’s life was a living testimony to this promise, and her passing is not a goodbye, but a celebration of her eternal homecoming.
Born in Ferry, Michigan, on May 7, 1946, to Willis Willard Jr., a sawmill operator, and Fern Joyce Lamphier, Nancy was raised alongside her brothers, Jim and Jack Willard, all preceded her in death. Growing up as a proud farm girl, she carried the grit, resilience, and work ethic instilled in her youth throughout her life. She graduated from Shelby High School and went on to build a life marked by loyalty, devotion, and service to others.
Nancy married Brian Morden in 1964, and together they raised two sons, Scott and Mark, all of whom preceded her in death. Scott was married to Jacquie Morden, and together they were the loving parents of Savanah (deceased) and Samantha Morden. Nancy cherished being a grandmother and often planned trips to North Carolina to spend time with them. When she could not be there she would call, write letters, or send hand-picked unique gifts.
In 1986, Nancy married Frank Pratt (deceased), gaining four stepchildren: Stephen (Katrina) Pratt, Amy (Jeff) Joiner, Eva (Bob) Trudell, and Paul Pratt. She also leaves behind several step-grandchildren who brought her great joy.
Throughout her life, Nancy called many places home—Hesperia, Grant, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Bonita Springs, Florida. In each community, she was a steadfast member of her church family, most recently at Plainfield Christian Church, where her faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life.
Professionally, Nancy retired from Gerber, where she rose through the ranks to become a telephony manager, a role that took her across the globe. Her organizational prowess and leadership were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
Nancy found joy in life’s simple pleasures: camping beneath Michigan skies, traveling with loved ones, knitting with care, reading with curiosity, golfing with enthusiasm, and occasionally trying her luck at the casino. After retirement, she and Frank embraced the snowbird lifestyle, spending winters in Bonita Springs, where they built lasting friendships and memories.
In her final years, Nancy was lovingly supported by dear friend Kathleen Springfield and her compassionate neighbors, Craig and Mary Gietzen, whose care and companionship brought comfort and peace.
Her legacy is one of devotion—to her family, her faith, and the values she lived by. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Memorial services have been made to honor Nancy’s life and legacy and will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Plainfield Christian Church, located at 7255 Pine Island Drive NE, Comstock Park, Michigan. The ceremony will be led by Preacher Bruce Wilson, with a luncheon to follow immediately after the service.
