Nanette Teunis Obituary

Nanette (Nan) E. Teunis, age 66 of Grand Rapids Michigan passed away peacefully at her home on February 6, 2023. She was born February 9, 1956, the daughter of Nihil and Helen (Crandle) barker. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Barb Toorenaar. She also had a special bond with her ex-husband Dennis Jansma.

Nan leaves behind her loving husband Ron Teunis, her sons Richard and Brian Barker, her only grandchild Steven Barker, her sister Ginger (Mike) Heller and two nephews Michael and Matthew Heller.

Nan Attended Forest Hills Northern High School. She was quite the sports fan, but especially loved NASCAR.

Nan was a proud twenty-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Northeastern Post 459. It was there she could support two of her passions, helping needy children and baking. She spear-headed the “Blind Auction” to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center in Grand Rapids, raising thousands of dollars over the years. She also chaired numerous bake sales, again raising more monies earmarked for kids.

Nan made sure all of her knew they were loved.

At Nan’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday April 8,2023 from 2pm to 5pm at the American Legion Northeastern Post 459, located at 658 Michigan Street NE Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.
