Nelson Brewer Obituary

NELSON AARON BREWER (aka Papa or Papa Bear)

He was graciously welcomed into his Loving Heavenly Father's arms while earning his wings to be able to fly up to Heaven to be reunited with his beautiful wife and loved ones on Friday May 12, 2023.

He was born on April 6,1942 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to one Harold Brewer and Tena Vandertuine who lived on a humble farm. He was the baby of the family and had many siblings that sometimes had to watch him. Growing up he was a sickly child but he never lost his sense of wonder or adventure. He loved fishing, garage sailing, flea marketing, bargain hunting, wheeling and dealing, treasure hunting, UFO and Bigfoot stories and a true American Patriot. He was a Vietnam Vet who saw battle and action but through it all he never lost his faith. He loved his Lord with all of his heart and prayed he would make it home safely. He was discharged from the Army in 1964. He worked for Fuller Supply company hauling pipes which he always described as hard work.

Later, he got reacquainted with his childhood crush, Charlotte Taylor, whom he had kissed when they were only 11 years old in his barn as he proceeded to tell her "I will marry you one day!" That day finally came on January 1,1971. It was New Years Day and he said, "I wanted to marry at the beginning of the new year so we would always have a new year together!" Nine MONTHES later they welcomed their first child, a boy, named, Nelson Aaron Brewer II, not JR! Then four years later their little family grew with the surprise of the birth of their daughter, named, Sharnel Lea Brewer. He was a devoted husband, father, provider and inspiration to all who knew him.

Nelson always wanted to go out and conquer the world or make a lasting impression on it and they people who loved him and knew him would agree he did. He loved talking to strangers in the grocery stores or hanging out with the Breakfast Club at local McDonald's where he spent many hours drinking coffee and sharing war stories there. He had big dreams of striking it rich but his biggest joy in life came when he was blessed to be a grandpa aka Papa to his three beloved grandchildren whom he loved, adored, and spoiled and became the apple of his eye. He loved going to all of his grandchildren 's school events especially the holiday parties. He always had an eager hug awaiting anyone and a huge encouraging smile. He opened his home up to anyone who needed a place to stay and loved making gourmet meals and fancy breakfasts since he was a prior self-made chef at his privately owned restaurant, George's! He loved with his whole heart and soul.

Nelson will be greatly and surely missed. There is a true emptiness that cannot be filled unless by The Love of Father who Art in Heaven. We love you Dad, Papa, and Daddy Bear today, tomorrow and always. Soar High and thank you for all of the memories, advice, and life lessons for they will never be forgotten.
