Richard Peterson

Richard Dale Peterson, age 75 passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2023.  Richard was born on April 5, 1948 to Ted and Alvina (Zarbock) Peterson in Grand Rapids, MI.  He grew up in the Dean Lake area enjoying all that life had to offer him especially anything with a motor which he would drive as fast as it would go or tear it apart out of curiousity.  After graduating from Forest Hills High School in 1966 Richard went to work for Kelvinator then was drafted into the Army where he served in Vietnam  earning several commendations including the Bronze Star for his service to our country.  Richard married the love of his life, Josephine (Jo) Van Polen on July 27, 1979.  Richard was predeceased by his parents and his wife Jo.  He is survived by his Step-daughter Barb (Todd) Cizauskas, Step-son Keith Van Polen, Step Granddaughter Lindsay Van Polen, Aunt Esther Kowalczyk, Cousins Joyce (Gene) Frantz, Wendy (Starl) Randall, Cathy Gillstedt, Den (Marcia) Kowalczyk, Jackie (Bob) Ross, Jim Peterson (Kim) and dear friends Larry and Nancy Travis.  Graveside services for Richard with Reverend Dennis Kleiman officiating will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2:00 in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery 2894 Patterson Ave. Grand Rapids, MI.
