Robert Leon Leverich

Robert “Leon” Leverich, Jr. July 6, 1947 – December 16, 2021 Leon Leverich was born in Grand Rapids, MI and spent much of his youth in Newaygo with his beloved grandparents. He graduated from Rogers High (Wyoming, MI), where he was the captain of the Downhill Ski team.

Leon had a long career as a master carpenter and spent his later years living on Campau Lake in Alto, MI where he resided with his loving wife, Linda (Mason) Leverich, until she lost her battle to cancer in 2003. Leon was diagnosed with cancer December 13, sent home in the care of hospice aided by family and friends December 14, and rejoined the love of his life, Linda, December 16. His humble and quiet presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Leon is survived by his daughter from his first marriage to Mary Kay VanLuyn, Olivia Leverich (Christopher Curley) and her children, William and Matthew Curley, as well as his half-siblings, Michael Leverich, Kim (Leverich) Diamond, and Rusty Leverich. Leon is also survived by his stepdaughters, Sari Jousma (John Nicholas Jousma) and Stephani Bowen (Michael Bowen), and their children Lorelai and Hayden Jousma and Mason and Grace Scruggs.
