Bob, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025. He was born June 18, 1943, in Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Virginia and brother, Jack Schmidt.
Bob was a proud member of the U.S. Navy Seabees and served two tours in Vietnam. He worked in construction and at General Motors / Delphi until his retirement in 2006. In retirement, Bob did the fun things in life - golf, baseball games with his brother, and lots of time with family and friends, most importantly, his granddaughter, Abby. He loved all of his family, but his love for Abby was strong and fierce. They had a special bond, and he was one of her biggest supporters.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Marie, Son-in-Law, Chris and granddaughter, Abby; brother, Jim Schmidt and his daughters Angie (Travis) Freeland, Tonya (Brian) Parmentier and Holly (Kurt) Chipman; sister, Margaret (Bob) Penning and their sons Matt Penning, Mark (Katie) Penning and Chris (Missy) Penning, niece Shannon (Kevin) Kidder, nephews, Scott (Stacia) Schmidt, Steve (Kristen) Schmidt and Kevin Schmidt, several great nieces and nephews that he loved tremendously, good friend, Mike Misner and his best friend, Jerry Cardinal.
As he requested, a celebration of life with good food, family, friends, and an honor guard ceremony will be held at the Ravenna American Legion Hall on Saturday, July 12,2025 from 1pm to 4 pm. Military Honors by the Ravenna Honor Guard will begin at approximately 3:00 pm.
