On Monday, August 17, 2020, Robert Duane Swenson, known as “Bob” or “Swede” to the world, passed away of natural causes we call life. Bob was born September 5, 1936 in Spring Valley, Minnesota to Lyle and Eleanor Swenson. He is survived by his mother Ellie (101) and his only sister Eileen. His wife of 46 years, Mary Ann and his Dad, Lyle, predeceased him. After the death of his wife in 2018, he suffered with depression and loneliness and lost much of his zest for life generally. He no longer enjoyed the hobbies that he loved – golf 1st then wood working in “Bob’s Barn”, painting, design, bird watching and fishing. Bob was an accomplished, meticulous, brilliant engineer, who loved to design it right, (his way) whether it was a bird feeder or a jet engine, he would always draw it out and redesign it for you. Bob served 2 enlistments of military service, proudly and honorably – 126th Army infantry – boastingly, a “sharp shooter score of 164.” The Air Force Aircraft Landing and Control (air traffic controller), Misawa Japan, and also enticed his lifelong buddy, Ron Nordstrum to join with him. Bob had 2 children and 3 step children along the way, which, if you asked – he would always generously help – no questions, all in, but you did need to ask! His opinions, humor and assessment of life’s absurdity will be missed. Per Bob’s request – a private ceremony – Rosedale Cemetery.
