Ronald Gene Vance, age 85, of Plainfield Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 1, 1940, Ron lived a life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, and dedication to the people and passions he loved most.
Ron proudly served his country as a Vietnam War Veteran and later dedicated many years of hard work as a member of the UAW. He was a man known for his strength, loyalty, and steady presence, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a story with those around him.
Above all else, Ron cherished his family. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Dorothy Vance, whose companionship and love remained one of the greatest joys of his life. Together they created countless memories, especially through their beloved “day drive popcorn adventures,” simple moments that became treasured traditions.
Ron was a proud father to Jodie Vance; Crystal Kubiak, Leo & Leah Kubiak; Kayla & Cory Nichols; and Ronald Jacob & Emily Vance. He was also a deeply loved Papa to Rowan, Eloise, CJ, Julien, Lyllyan, Ashlyn, Anna Marie, Kyah, Xavier, Jon, Bella, Zachary, Alexis, and Todd, and a proud great-grandfather to one great-granddaughter.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law Rodney and Eva Stark, and sister-in-law Cindy and Jeff Potgether, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Ron found joy in the outdoors and the people around him. He loved fishing with the Lunker Hunters, camping at Indian Lake, cheering on GVSU sports, and spending time coaching for more than 20 years, leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes and families. His wisdom, humor, and quiet kindness will be remembered by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ronald Gene Vance leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, service, and family. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Fear No One, Respect Everyone!
