Rose Marie DeBoer (Byrne), age 80, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after a brief illness. She was born to Donald and Marie Byrne on December 1, 1939. Rose married Gerald DeBoer on June 23, 1961. Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rose was a long-time member of St. Alphonsus Church. Rose had a loving, caring heart. She spent many years teaching and she always had a very special place in her heart for physically and mentally handicapped children and adults. Her last years working were with her beloved, late husband Jerry, in food service.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband Gerald DeBoer, son Phil DeBoer, her parents, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Rose is survived by daughter and family, Colleen (Terry) Mundwiler, Mary Beth Mundwiler, Megan (Joseph) Barth (Emery and Asher), Katie Mundwiler, Tori (David) Payne (Harper),Tessa Mundwiler. Daughter and family, Kimberly (William) Kuhlman, Steven (Katie) Kuhlman (Amelia), Ryan (Kelly) Kuhlman and Jordan Kuhlman. Phil’s daughters, Morgan DeBoer (Jacob Schemmel), Allison DeBoer, and Phil’s special friend, Jennifer May. Also surviving are brothers James (Sandy) Byrne, Patrick Byrne, Kate Byrne (Bill Cavellini). Brothers-in-law William (Alice) DeBoer, Raymond (Maureen) DeBoer, sister-in-law Mary (Joseph) Pulawski and many special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24 from 10 AM, prior to funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier St NE, Grand Rapids, MI. 49505.
