Shirley grew up in Coopersville and in the spring of 1953 married John “Bill” Heyt, they were married for 44 years and were blessed with 2 sons, 1 daughter, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A big part of Shirley’s early life was being a part of the Wright and Tallmadge Firefighters Women's Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends, as she aged she enjoyed the bus trips with the OK Kids of Coopersville. Shirley was very proud to have grown up in Coopersville and to have been a graduate of Coopersville High School. She enjoyed hanging out at the Coopersville Farm Museum Jam Night when she could. Shirley was a huge nature and animal lover, especially dogs. As life progressed, she enjoyed sitting and watching the deer, ducks and birds out her window. Shirley’s biggest attribute was her gift to gab, just ask anyone who knew her. When she was home there was always a pot of coffee on for anyone who stopped by.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. In keeping with her wish a cremation has taken place.
