Steven Michael Smith, 70, of Coral, Mi passed away on July 23, 2025, holding the hand of his daughter. Born on July 22, 1955, Steve was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughter Taryn Watikunas (Bill) and son Mike Smith (Amanda) and a sister, Deb Fitzner, along with three grandchildren, Gracie, Emma and Billy, who were the absolute light of his life.
A retired employee of Towers Automotive in Greenville, Steve found joy in the simple things: a good round of golf, a big garden, cooking food, and quiet mornings in the woods. He was stubborn in spirit, quick with sarcasm, and always had something to say—whether you wanted to hear it or not.
But where Steve truly softened was with his grandkids. He loved and spoiled them every chance he got—rides on the four-wheeler, snuggles on the couch, and a lap that was always open, no matter how tired he was. They brought out his biggest smiles and the warmest part of his heart.
He will be missed beyond words, remembered with laughter, and carried forward in every little one he loved so deeply.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Tri County Eagles in Sand Lake, MI.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Steven’s memory to “First Tee.” A youth development program introducing golf and life development skills to children.
