Tamara (Tammy) Lynne Achterhof (MacDonald), age 64, of Jenison, MI, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on July 5, 2025, following a brave battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, cherished mother, beloved grandma, devoted sister, dear friend.
Tammy was born on November 18, 1960, in Grand Rapids, MI. She lived a life grounded in faith, family, compassion, and service. A dedicated member of Rosewood Church, she found strength and joy in a close relationship with the Lord, and shared Christ’s love in every season of life. Throughout her life, Tammy shared kindness and thoughtfulness with everyone she met. Even during her cancer battle, she remained steadfast in faith and hopeful in the Lord’s grace. She was vibrant and a true lover of life, and this world will not be the same without her infectious smile.
Tammy is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Brian Achterhof; two daughters: Julie (Andrew) Lewakowski and Renee (Kevin) VanPopering; four grandchildren: Kellen and Maren Lewakowski, Porter and Wells VanPopering; brother Timothy (Penny) MacDonald; sister-by-marriage Char MacDonald; sister Tanya (Jim) Kastelz; and many loving family members and friends. She has been reunited with those who preceded her in Heaven; her father and mother: Allen (Mac) and Nancy MacDonald; brother Thomas MacDonald; and brother Terry MacDonald.
Visitation will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10am at Rosewood Church, located at 2795 Rosewood Street Jenison, MI. A celebration of life service will follow at 11am. A private family burial will take place in the afternoon at Idlewild Cemetery in Kent City, MI.
