Terry lived a life of “work hard- play hard”. Unfortunately, the last several years were spent in ill health.
For those that cared for Terry, know that his last night was spent with Carol, his wife of 15 years,
comforting him, not leaving his side and holding his hand until Jehovah gently took it and led him home.
Terry was preceded in his death by his parents Edward and Mabel Sczesny as well as his sister Dianne
(Sczesny) Orman.
He is survived by his siblings Linda (and David) Tofel of Belding Michigan and Annett Hansma of
Wyoming Michigan.
Terry will be missed by his two surviving sons Anthony (Donna) Sczesny of Marne, as well as Keith
Sczesny of Wyoming Michigan. His grandchildren, Jared, Amber Rose and Caitlyn. And his four-legged furry Pomeranian, Tipper
After graduating from Creston High School. Terry, who always had a natural gift with all things
mechanical, went to work for General Motors diesel manufacturing plant for 31 years. Well known as a
perfectionist, he was nicknamed “Mr. Zero” for the precision that he demanded while manufacturing
parts on his Screw Machines.
His favorite past time was to ride his Harley as much as possible! So committed he was to his
motorcycle, he actually married it while at a Sturgis motorcycle rally.
But if he wasn’t on his Harley, he absolutely loved bowling. Terry would be seen throughout Grand
Rapids bowling lanes for over 40 years. He maintained a very tight circle of friends around those
bowling lanes as well as through his motorcycling.
Terry and all who loved him would want everyone to raise their glass and give a big “toodles” to him!
A most special thank you to Teresa Howard for her loving care of Terry this past year. There will be a
celebration of his life at a later date, to be announced.
