Thomas Howard Foster, age 74, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025. Born October 24, 1950 in Erie, Pennsylvania, Tom was the son of James and Rita H. Foster.
Tom navigated life with Asperger’s syndrome at a time when understanding and research were almost nonexistent. He faced daily challenges in relationships, work life, and basic routines. Even as mobility and health issues grew more debilitating, his stubborn independence and quiet determination never wavered.
He is preceded in death by James Foster (father) & Rita H. Foster (mother).
Tom is survived by cherished son, Michael Foster, and precious grandchildren, Karson and Abigal Foster, and Michael’s mother, Sheri (Lawrence) Foster. Tom left behind 9 siblings & their spouses: Deedee Foster, Jim (Judith) Foster, Bette (Dick) Syrek, Patty (Jim) Leake, Lolly (Tim) Kirkwood, Bob (Vicky) Foster, Mary (John Teutch) Foster, Pam Foster, and Jon Foster, in addition to countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins from the Foster and Higgins families.
A Family Celebration of Life will be held on Tom’s 75th Birthday in the Fall.
The family kindly requests memorial donations to AutismSpeaks.org to support research, advocacy, and services for individuals and families living with autism.
