Thomas Schultz Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Schultz our father, grandfather, “great-grandfather,” and friend. He passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the age of 73. He was born on November 19,1947, in Grand Rapids to the late William and Barbara Schultz. He was preceded in death by his grandson Jessee Schultz. He is survived by his step-mother Mrs. Geraldine Schultz.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Thomasin “Tomi” (John) Calvaruso, Michelle (Shane) Baker, Casey (Tracy) DeKlein. His adored grandchildren and “great-grandchildren”are Raelyn (Will) Little, Matthew Dickson, Morgan Schultz-White, Lane Schultz-White, Madison Baker, Phoebe Dickson, and Asher Little. Surviving is his brother Dennis (Judy) Schultz, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends he has chosen as family.

Tom loved to do crossword puzzles, was a voracious reader, smooth on the dance floor, avid poker player, huge Detroit Tiger and University of Michigan fan, and entertained friends and family while singing karaoke. Baseball was his one true sport. He excelled at Valley Field while playing for Hines and Son’s and Absolute Cleaning Service while being named an All-Star in the City Majors.

Always up for gathering with friends and family, he was quite the story teller and not afraid to use hyperbole.  As a father he did the best he could do to teach and guide his children. He was a loving grandfather and “great-grandfather.” A good friend to all, he never forgot an anniversary or birthday. He is loved and will be missed by many.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods in Byron Center.

Please join us in celebrating his life Saturday, July 10, 2021, between 4:00 P.M - 8:00 P.M. at The Bluff Banquet Center and Conference Center 2035 28th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508 for a bite to eat and a mandatory drink or two in a final toast in Tom’s honor.
