Timothy P. Taggart age 61 of Caledonia, Michigan a beautiful soul, went to his heavenly home too soon on October 17, 2023.Timothy leaves behind his loving Fiancée and partner in life for twenty-three years, Mary Meyers, his nine amazing children: Brittney (Erik) Crooymans, Brooke (Kyle) Shupe, Thad (Kayla) Taggart, Mitchell Taggart (Kate), Austin Taggart (Cat), David Meyers, Joshua Meyers (Jenny), Alisha Meyers and Nikki Cain (Ian), as well as twelve grandchildren who Papa adored dearly. He will also be remembered by his two sisters Laura (Mike) Vizard, Dawn Steventon, his uncle, Mike DeGraff, a special niece, Kaileigh Shafer and many extended family members and friends.
A selfless, bighearted caring man with a generous spirit, the epitome of what a family man is. An avid outdoorsman, Tim loved hunting in Brohman, golfing when he had the chance, tending his prized lawn and spending time at the lake up north boating with family and lake friends. Known as a gear head at heart, Tim’s vast knowledge of cars or anything with a motor made him the go-to guy for advice or help with repairs. His dream car was the Shelby Cobra.
A true diehard U of M football fan, he never missed a game. He enjoyed his Jack Daniels and crafting his famous homemade honey liquor. The tomatoes and peppers in his garden, he canned into tasty hot salsa. Weekly family dinners were his favorite. Tim loved cooking for the kids, wrestling with the grands and trying out new recipes on them.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Timothy is preceded in death by his parents George Taggart and Nella Mae Klooster; his three siblings, Ted Taggart, Brenda Johnson, and Teresa Antcliff; two brothers in law, Denny Steventon, Chuck Antcliff, and his nephew, David Bennink.
A Celebration of Tim’s Life will be held on Friday November 10, 2023 from 3pm to 6pm at Memorial Alternatives, located at 2432 Fuller Ave, Grand Rapids MI 49505.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Tim’s memory to
St. Jude Children’s Hospital or American Diabetes Association of West Michigan.
