Tracy Baker Obituary

Tracy Lynn (Townsend) Baker age 54 of Spring Lake, Michigan peacefully passed away on June 2, 2024 at Corewell Health Nursing and Rehab Center - Kentridge after a courageous battle with complications from a stroke in 2019.

Tracy is preceded in death by her parents Dale Raymond Townsend and Joan Alyce (Green) Townsend and her two aunts Marilyn (Townsend) Little, Nancy (Gilbert) Blok Townsend.

Tracy leaves behind her loving husband of twenty years, Craig Lloyd Baker. She also leaves behind her brother Glenn (Rebecca) Townsend.

She will be dearly missed by her aunts Judy (Dave) King, Geraldine Cash, Charlene Oldfield, and Cheryl Farr; Uncle Dennis (Christine) Green; her nieces Heather (Gabe), Rebecca (Scott), and nephew Alan.

Also feeling a tremendous loss are Tracy's in-laws, Debra and Bob Baker; sister-in-law Brandee (Mark) Bosher; nieces and nephews all of Ontario, Canada; close friend Coralee.

Tracy was a graduate of Creston High School, class of 1988. After High school Tracy decided to follow her father's and brother's path into the trades as a CNC machinist.

When she wasn't tinkering in the garage with her hero, her dad, she could be found fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with her aunts and uncles.

Tracy's passions developed very early in life with her love of all animals. She had many pets growing up and into adulthood. Everything from dogs to birds, and fish to cats. These passions were further fueled by summers spent volunteering as a junior handler at John Ball Zoo.

Over the years she took great pride and joy in tending to her numerous flower gardens around the yard. She occasionally would collect pop culture memorabilia, but was most proud of her extensive foreign currency collection.

On the weekends you would most likely find Tracy enjoying the sun while boating, fishing, kayaking, bicycle riding, and most recently hiking while looking for hidden caches.

Tracy’s lifelong devotion to speaking for those without a voice was fulfilled when she started rescuing, fostering, and co-organizing adoption events for needy cats and kittens with Heaven Can Wait Animal Haven. Together with several compassionate volunteers, many otherwise forgotten cats were given new leases on life, with a select few finding a new loving home with her.

Per Tracy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private life celebration will take place at a later date.

To honor Tracy’s memory, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heaven Can Wait Animal Haven or a shelter of your choice.
