Wanda Mundwiler Obituary

Wanda Lee Mundwiler, age 67, passed away in her home in Rockford, MI on February 12, 2021 as a result from a long battle with cancer.

Wanda was born on August 22, 1953, in Tecumseh, MI, the daughter of Helen Craft and Paul Craft. She lived in the community for much of her childhood with her siblings Thomas, Janice, and Donna, though would later move to Onsted, MI where she graduated from Onsted High School in 1971. She furthered her education at Ferris State University and graduated with a B.S. in Marketing and a B.S. in Advertising in 1975.

Wanda met her husband, Mark, in 1981. They had a perfect 6-month courtship and wed shortly after on November 13, 1981. They would later welcome two daughters into the world, Lindsey in 1983 and Kelly in 1985.  Over the years they have enjoyed traveling across the US together immensely, both as a couple, and as a family of four. They lovingly traveled to Disney World for Christmas in 2019 with all the kids and grandchildren which was a memory Wanda treasured immensely.

Wanda’s professional career was one that was filled with friendships that have lasted her lifetime, and she has truly treasured that. She began her professional career at Watkins, Ross & Co in 1988. She would later transition in 1992 to Mill Steel Co as a Human Resources Director, a role she would flourish in for the remainder of her career. In 2000, she graciously accepted a position in the Kent County HR Department as a Human Resources Specialist. She would finish her career as the HR Manager at Design Design. She was an extremely talented, hard-working, and compassionate employee. Her smile could light up the room and her whit could knock you on the floor with laughter.

She loved to crochet and could be seen working on a project for someone constantly, as selfless as she was. She had a great love for the Detroit Red Wings, especially the 1997-1998 teams. Wanda was a fighter and had such a tenacity to her. She did not know how to give up and refused to, right up until the Lord said it was ultimately time for her to come Home. She was an amazingly loving wife and mother, a wonderful Grammy, a caring daughter and sister, and a devoted friend. She will be greatly missed.

Wanda leaves her beloved husband Mark of Rockford; her two daughters and their husbands Lindsey and Nate Clingen of Rockford, MI and Kelly and Brent Williams of Rockford, MI; grandchildren Lily, Chaya, Madi, Evan, and Hunter. She also leaves behind her mother, Helen Craft, of Britton, MI; her sister Janice Oliver and her husband Michael of Chapin, SC, and sister, Donna Cline of Britton, MI. She is also survived by her mother and father in-law, Warren and Lois Mundwiler of Rockford, MI. She also leaves many sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Paul and Frances Craft; brother, Thomas Matteson; granddaughter Avery Anne, and son in-law Jacob Francis.

A celebration of life service will be held later this spring and will be announced by family via Facebook. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Michigan.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8
