William Todd Henkel

William (Todd) Henkel, of Cedar Springs, Michigan passed away in the early morning of Sunday, February 23, 2020. Todd was born in Grand Rapids on Christmas Day 1964 to William (Bill) Henkel, and Janice (Jan) Henkel, of Grand Rapids. Todd is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Sandra (Sandy); parents William and Janice; brother Erick (Rick) and sister-in-law Melissa (Missy); and his nieces Emma and Sophie.  

Todd graduated from Forest Hills Northern High School in 1983.  Shortly after, he joined his dad, Bill, working at Resource Heating as their installation specialist, mechanical contractor and later president of the company. A few years later, Todd’s brother, Rick, joined him and they worked side by side for almost 30 years. 

Todd was a risk-taker and adventurer. Summers are the slow season in the heating business. Therefore, in the early 1990’s Todd spent his summers in Alaska working on fishing boats, and hunting on Kodiak Island.

As an avid outdoors man, Todd enjoyed duck and deer hunting in the fall, snowmobiling in the winter, riding his Harley and golfing in the summer, and spending time with family and friends at his cottage in Barryton, Michigan. Just shy of 20 years of membership, Todd almost made it to be a gold member at The Casino Club. There, he enjoyed participating in bowling and golf leagues, and just socializing with friends. Within the last few years, Todd joined The Wild Bunch and was honored to become their Road Captain. 

We will miss Todd’s adventurous spirit, his ability to live in the moment, and his sense of humor. While appearing to be rough around the edges, Todd was sweet and caring to all - especially to his nieces.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm on March 21, 2020 at The Casino Club, located at Salerno Dr. NE, Grand Rapids.
