William Richmond Obituary

William Richmond, age 92, passed away peacefully at home with family. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Mae Richmond, son Jeffrey William Richmond son in law Larry Aalderink and grandson Nicholas Alexander. Bill was born in Santa Barbara California where he stayed until entering the United States Army where he proudly served in Korea. Upon completion of his service, he traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan to visit his grandparents, Luis and Marie Richmond, founders of Richmond Stampworks. During his visit, he met his future bride Bonnie, where he would remain to raise his family. They were married for 67 years before her passing in 2017. He worked as a professional baker retiring from D&W at the age of 70. Bill was always happy to surprise family members by delivering fresh baked goods and donuts to their homes in the early mornings after working his night shifts. His family will always cherish the memories of the aromas of freshly baked bread filling the air and a simple phone call announcing that the bread was coming out of the oven would quickly gather friends and family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all had the pleasure of watching him decorate special occasion cakes and wait in anticipation to eat the icing roses that he would create on their hands. He was always up for an opportunity to win a nickel and dime pot in a round of cards while enjoying a good cup of “mud” otherwise known as coffee and he was loved for his sense of humor and corny grandfather jokes. You could be sure to see a smile on his face if you offered him a bowl of jello with bananas or any other treat to satisfy his sweet tooth. After retiring, Bill and Bonnie spent many winters as camp hosts at Refugio Beach State Park in California and then later as RV Camp residents in Green Valley, Arizona. These trips provided many adventurous stories to tell the family upon their return.

He is survived by his children, Kristine Jacobson, Greg (Susan) Richmond, David (Pam) Richmond, Tim (Chrissy) Richmond, Lisa (Harry) Alexander, daughter in law, Gretchen Richmond, grandchildren, Heidi Doherty, Emily Jacobson, Chad (Sara) Richmond, Scott Richmond, Casey (Kevin) Cochran, Cary Richmond, Alex Richmond, Jeremy Richmond, Peyton Richmond, Tessa Richmond, Sisters in law, Lilian Hubbel, Beverly Bogaski, Barbara Pratt, brother in law, Barry (Kris) Hubbel, cousin, Matilda “Chula” Van De Hyde, nieces nephews, and great grandchildren.
